I turned up today knowing this would be a tougher test than last week and it turned out that way.
This was a tough game that both defences stood out with strong timely challenges, this showed not long into the game as Daly made 2 great blocks but in the 2nd challenge got injured with painful stood marks down his knee to show for it. There were not too many clear cut chances in the first half, we did have a few chances but seemed to be holding onto the ball too long or reluctant to shoot earlier. Tom & Louis did have a few chances and Jimmy had a good long range effort saved. At the other end Ollie didn't have a lot to do as we managed to restrict them to long range efforts. There was a lot of hard work and commitment but not too many clear cut chances.
At half time it was 0-0.
2nd half was much of the same with some great interceptions by all our defenders & some last ditch tackles stopping Tom & Louis getting through their defence. Ollie did make a good save when coming out to meet the forward, crys of penalty, Never !
Then we broke clear with Tom using his pace into the penalty box, I thought he was brought down for a penalty but after a tangle a penalty was awarded to us, I think it was handball. Louis stepped up & calmly slotted in 1-0.
The boys tried to keep their shape and hold out for the win but we missed a tackle on the edge of the box & Biggleswade were through and scored 1-1.
With a few minutes to go we had a corner well taken by Rhys that Daly got his head to but it rebounded of the crossbar !
We also had a few more chances at corners but it did not quite fall to any of our players to finish off.
The game finished 1-1.
We still have improvements to make especially with holding onto the ball too long and making the right decisions.
Overall this was a tough game against a strong opponent, the boys worked hard and kept our unbeaten run going.
